Dehu Ghat
Development of Kapur Odha to Jagatguru Tukaram Maharaj Mandir Ghat at Dehu
It is proposed to develop the Kapur Odha to Jagatguru Tukaram Maharaj Mandir Ghat along the Indrayani River at Dehu in the Pune Metropolitan Area.
Accordingly, a consultant has been appointed to prepare the architectural design of the said Ghat and a detailed project report has been prepared through them. The report includes the following:
- Providing footpaths and ghats adjacent to all the temples on the banks of the Indrayani River.
- Creating an active platform in the central level with softscape and hardscape ghats designed on 3 levels.
- Developing parking zones and hawkers’ zones for the traffic coming to the ghat and temples.
- Renovating the existing toilets and upgrading them into 10-seater toilets with proper water arrangements.
- Constructing a retaining wall on the banks of the river and creating a single platform walkway for the pilgrimage.
- Creating Khandki stone paving and green space in the active deck. Incorporating the existing trees into the flooring for the pilgrims and creating organic-shaped seaters with cobbled borders. Installing some play equipment in this area.
- Creating the difference in level between the first 2 decks like amphitheater steps and providing adequate space for seating with flower beds.
- The topmost footpath will be made of Khandki stone flooring with laterite stone flooring and flower beds on the sides.
- To give the entire ghat a uniform height and identity, stone umbrellas are proposed and carefully placed at the entry points of the ghat steps.
- Maintaining a uniform material pallet with Khandki stone paving to match the overall architectural language of the ghat with the existing ghats.
For the above works, technical approval has been given to the budget of ₹19.98 crore for the new works in the first phase as per the Public Works Department’s rate list for 2023-24 and the tender process has been completed. The work commencement order has been given to the contractor.
